Inverness store open as company plans to go into administration
IT remains business as usual at outdoor clothing retailer Blacks Leisure in Inverness despite the company planning to go into administration.
The manager of the Academy Street outlet told The Inverness Courier: "There’s nothing happening here at all just now."
The company — which has 3500 employees nationwide — has announced it will briefly enter administration as part of a takeover deal.
Entrepreneur and star of BBC television programme Dragons’ Den, Peter Jones, is reportedly one of four potential buyers, who also include Newcastle United Football Club owner Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct and sportswear retailer JD Sports, it is understood.
Company shares have been suspended from trading on the London Stock Exchange and a proposed administration strategy will allow the firm to write off £36m debts and help it close loss-making parts of the business.
"The company expects to be in a position to announce a sale of substantially all of the trade, assets and brands of the Group within the next few days," reads a statement on the firm’s website.
